Hello, and welcome back to our blog here at Oasis Brewery! Oasis Brewing Company was founded in 1991 and is considered one of Colorado’s original microbreweries. We’re getting ready to open a new brewery in Denver, so visit our Facebook page to stay up to date on our grand opening and any event we will be hosting leading up to it. If you recall from last time, we talked about several ways you can discover the beer of your dreams. We covered expanding your horizons, making use of technology, and taking a road trip to a beer festival. This time, we’re going to talk about several more ways to find that beer you can truly call, “your favorite.”
Whether you’re a long-time beer connoisseur or you’re just getting into beer, we’re all looking for that one beer to change our lives. With hundreds of thousands of beers out there, it can be a little bit overwhelming, but that’s okay, we’re here to help.
It’s easy to label yourself as “a light beer drinker” or a “dark beer drinker,” or someone who loves IPAs or hates IPAs, but these labels won’t help you if you’re trying to find an amazing beer. The reality is, there are great beers covering all brewing styles and you shouldn’t stop yourself from trying an IPA, stout, or any other beer just because you didn’t like another of the same style.
Get to know your brewers
It’s easy to walk into a brewery and order a beer, but if you’re not talking with your brewers, you’re not getting the full experience. The more you communicate with your brewers and other beer enthusiasts like you, the more you’ll be up to date on the latest festivals and beer events that are going on around town, and the more insight you will have into how their beer is made and what makes it so great.
Learn the lingo
If you want to know exactly what kind of beer you’ll like, you should start learning the lingo in the beer industry. That’s great if you know the difference between an IPA, a stout, or a lager and an ale, however, do you know what else is out there? Next time you’re at a brewery, strike up a conversation with a fellow beer drinker or brewer and try to learn the ins and outs of brewing. The better you understand them, this way you’ll be able to understand the process that goes into making a great beer rather than trying beers at random and not knowing anything about them.
